A Study on the Nurses¢¥ Responsibility and Awareness of the Inhabitants¢¥ Health Education

Abstract

|
For the security of nurse¢¥s status in the inhabitants¢¥ health education a study on the present availability of 112 nurses, who are on duty in the general hospitals in Kwangju, was carried out. The results were as follows.
1) The inhabitants¢¥ request of nurses for health education was great and most of the nurses had good sense of responsibility for health education.
2) The inhabitants¢¥ health problems confronted the nurses were mainly on the pregnancy, family planning, child rearing, pre- and postpuerparal care, and hygiene.
3) Many of the nurses had pride as health educators but more than half of them approved their shortage in solving the inhabitants¢¥ health problems.
On the basis of these results, suggestions for the more effective role of the nurses as health educators were conceived.
